In March, a conference “THE EUROPEAN PROTECTED WINE DESIGNATIONS: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS” took place in Zaragoza.
A conference “THE EUROPEAN PROTECTED WINE DESIGNATIONS: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS” took place in Zaragoza on March 20 and 21 at the Facultad de Economia y Empresa, with the presence of a partner of the BATModel Consortium: UNIROMA3, with Cristina Vaquero Pineiro and Luca Salvatici.
“Do Geographical Indications (GIs) have an impact on local export dynamics? Our research, conducted for Italian municipalities with reference to the GI wine sector, suggests that GIs have a positive impact on wine export performance and, at the same time, generate positive trade spillovers – for the agri-food sector in general. The positive impacts of GIs are most pronounced in extra-EU trade flows and territories where the GI regime compensates for rural structural difficulties and weak institutions.”
This was an important presence for the dynamization and affirmation of the BATModel in Europe and for the sector.
