LThe AfCFTA is going to be a major trade shock. I. Fusacchia et al. (2021) concluded that it has the potential to significantly change global sourcing structures and the formation of production networks in Africa.
However, success of the AfCFTA may require complementary trade policies with national support. For instance, policies may include the re-training of workers for new tasks or jobs as a result of technological changes, to promote investments and competition, together with social protection of the most vulnerable.
