BATModel contribution to the analysis of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) – Part 3

Trade policy changes can have unintended consequences for informal, local supply chains and dietary habits, sometimes excluding producers or elevating less-nutritious processed foods over traditional dietary staples.

I. Fusacchia et al. (2021) have shown that the AfCFTA is predicted to displace the current trade flow to some extent. The effects are not likely to be neutral from a geopolitical perspective, and implications on international relations need to be watched.
